Amber Alert Test - Utah Department of Public Safety

Article Published 04/02/2025
The Utah Department of Public Safety's Bureau of Criminal Identification will conduct a statewide TEST of the AMBER Alert system on Thursday, April 3, between 4:00 and 4:30 PM. This test is part of an upgrade to align the system with modern national standards and verify its integration with FEMA's Emergency Alert System.

What to Expect:

  • A TEST AMBER Alert notification will be sent statewide to mobile devices, TV, radio, and highway message boards.
  • The alert will include a distinct tone and vibration on mobile devices, similar to a real AMBER Alert.
  • The message will clearly state that it is a TEST and that no action is required.

Why This Test Matters:

The AMBER Alert system is a critical tool in locating abducted children, and these system upgrades will improve its reliability and effectiveness. Testing ensures that in the event of an actual emergency, alerts will be delivered without issue.

We kindly ask for your assistance in:

  • Spreading awareness about this test to your local agencies, community partners, and the public.
  • Reassuring the public that this is only a test—no action is required.
  • Reporting any technical concerns after the test to help us evaluate the system's performance.
